The mind and works of Lady Mystery

Short Stories

Tales of the Realm: Intro

In a realm unlike your own, myths and legends are a reality, and not old folk tales. Here, gods and goddesses roam about the skies and land, as well as fairies and pixies and other magical creatures. We are now in Yretsym Realm (pronounced ee-ret-sim).

It’s fairly peaceful here, well, under normal circumstances anyway. The dheloom (the inhabitants of this realm), are open minded and generally friendly. They respect the laws of nature and are somewhat religious. The religion of the dheloom, called Daelinism, is very liberal. Its foundation is respect. Respect for everything around you. Life, death, nature, people, ideas, you name it. The dheloom are not perfect, by all means, I assure you, they are NOT. And because of this, there isn’t a constant state of peacefulness here. Which reminds me of someone.

Over the town, we come to a grim clearing, although Yretsym Realm always has a gloomy appearance, where we are now, it is darker, if that’s possible. Through barren trees we walk, and a stone bridge we cross, alas here we are. Chaos Castle, home of Ywetren (pronounced ee-weh-trehn), goddess of guess what? Chaos of course, hence the name. Yes, I’m a terrible comedian. Anyway, where was I? Ah, yes. Here are some fun facts about the castle.

It was built by demos and goblins with the help of dark fairies over 900 years ago, designed by Lord Morkanpuros, the god of Death, himself. The castle has 13 rooms, 3 master bedrooms, a dining hall, a magnificent ballroom (where the most outrageous parties happen), a kitchen, a laundry room and so on. All the furnishings were designed by Count Vremondu of the Arentu Coren (Fairy Court). He is a dark fairy with an impeccable taste for the morbid. And before I bore you to death with other details, I’ll tell you about Ywetren.

Ywetren’s skin is extremely pale, she is literally white as snow, and her skin is lustrous, and glows on its own. She has very long white wavy hair, and piercing red eyes. Her white hair is not due to her old age, on the contrary, she is a very young goddess. Gods age differently; she is 5,000 years old, yet looks like she’s 21. She’s very friendly, a bit cruel sometimes, and one of her favourite hobbies is to wreak havoc, after all, it’s her birthright.

Let’s go inside, shall we? I have the keys to everything and everywhere. Why? Because I am Lady Mystery, guardian of Yretsym Realm. Yes, I’m special, but sometimes this privilege is a burden. To the left, we see a large portrait of Lord Morkanpuros, Ywetren’s father, and to the right we see another portrait of the same size. Her name is Lakinwa, she is the goddess of destruction and Ywetren’s mother. Just imagine what amazing parents Ywetren has.

Laughter is heard from the end of the hall, as we come closer, we see two women sitting, facing each other. These are NOT ordinary women, we can see that both of them have an ethereal glow, an aura surrounding them. One of them is Ywetren, wearing a beautiful floor length black dress with crimson lining that can be seen from the slit that runs all the way up to her thigh on the left side of the dress, and no shoes. The other woman is Etreum de Sumina (pronounced eh-treh-oom deh soo-mee-nah). She is the supreme goddess, if this were Greek mythology, she’d be Zeus. But her role is much more than that of Zeus’. All beings answer to her, she is the one that keeps a balance, she can take away life, bring it back or create a new one. All creatures have a lifetime; she is the one who decides when to end it so that it can be reborn again. That’s not the only thing she can do, she can do anything she wants, she’s the Supreme Being. No one calls her by her name, it is forbidden to call her Etreum de Sumina, instead she is called Umer or Lady Umer, as most call her. Only her closest friends call her Sumi.

Sumi has straight floor length black hair, yellow eyes, white lustrous skin, and very long nails. She’s wearing a long sleeved white floor length dress and no shoes either. Sumi and Ywe look quite the opposite, but they have more things in common than meets the eye. They are great friends; civilians have spotted them together various times in the city. When those 2 get together, anything can happen. And when they team up with Norenshati, the goddess of darkness, the possibilities are endless. So it’s not strange at all to see Sumi here.

As we walk down the hall, the 2 goddesses are left behind. We find ourselves at the door. It’s very cloudy outside, we step out, and walk towards the town. Across the bridge and barren trees we walk, over the town and valleys we fly, and here we are. At the gates of Yretsym Realm. Time runs at a different pace here. Make haste and go back to your world. But before you leave, remember one thing: Ereti sim zuna, ereti deneim. Where there’s light, there’s darkness.
