Boat trip
A small boat sails across the sea; it has no motor or sail, what drives it are the currents of the waves. The destination is Italy, but the little boat is still in the Caribbean. The lonely passenger senses that something is wrong. A thought comes to mind, “maybe I’m going the wrong way.” Not too far away, a couple of islands can be seen. 10 minutes later, the lonely passenger docks the little boat and walks by the shore.
A young man walks by and notices the foreigner. “May I help you?” asks the young man, this fellow’s name is Jose Alberto. His skin is cinammon coloured, he has broad shoulders, big brown eyes, well shaped mouth, fine nose, faint hint of muscles, black hair, about 4 inches long, spiked up. He stares with a puzzled look at the foreigner.
Foreigner: Where am I?
Jose Alberto: You’re in Trinidad.
F: Trinidad?! I’m supposed to be going to Italy and I haven’t even left the Caribbean yet!
JA: Italy is to the east from here.
F: I can’t sail eastwards, that’s where I just came from.
JA: Where are you from?
F: Puerto Rico.
JA: I’ve never heard of that country.
F: It’s not a country, it’s a United States colony.
JA: Where is it?
F: Next to Dominican Republic.
JA: Isn’t that Haiti?
F: No, Haiti and Dominican Republic share the same island, Puerto Rico is an island of its own.
JA: I’m sorry that I’ve never heard of your island. But I do know about the United States.
The foreigner leaves Trinidad shortly after the conversation with Jose Alberto. Once again the lonely passenger is at sea, counting on the waves to lead the boat to Italy. Instead, the boat comes ashore on the familiar waters of Puerto Rico. The angered traveler heads home enraged and immediatly demands money for an airplane ticket to Italy. This request is denied. The enraged traveler goes to the sea and sails away, hoping that the waves will take the litle boat to the desired destination.
The sun is setting and our lonely passenger gets ready to sleep. But this disappointed traveler is not alone this time. A beautiful little girl sits and stares at the blazing sky and says “What are we doing tommorow night?” And the tired passenger answers “Same thing we do every night Pinky, try to take over the world.” With that said, they smile at each other.
