Take a break from humanity

What does it mean to be human? Are we really the most intelligent creature on Earth? What makes us so damn special? When you look at the course of human history, can you actually believe that we’re the most intelligent creatures on the planet?
We may have science and technology but so what? We’re probably the only animals that destroy our environment and don’t contribute to the natural balance in nature. As we “evolve”, we move farther away from our natural place within the cosmos. Ancient civilazations built empires using knowledge from nature. Many scientists are still baffled by discoveries made from these “primitive” societies. It really bothers me when I see documentaries and the so called professionals of the given specialty (anthropology, paleonthology, engineering, etc.) discredit human ingenuity of ancient times like Stonehenge, the pyramids, ancient brain surgery, etc. History doesn’t always move forward. In many ways, humanity moves one step forward, and two steps back.
Being human is being an animal that lives by the rules established by its herd. In no way was humanity meant to separate from the very thing that gives us food and shelter. We are not above animals, we cohabitate with them because were are animals. We have shame and wear clothes but it’s not our fault that human flesh is so weak and tender that we need to cover some of it for our protection and we’re vain enough to do it in style.
Many animals are smart enough to avoid problems that may cause harm to their herd such as killing off the weak and sick and casting off offenders. Humans are no different. Who are we to say that other animals don’t have feelings and they don’t feel bad for things they do? People learn a lot from observing other creature’s behaviors, some things aren’t instinct, it’s just plain common sense.
We’ve made the world a disgusting place and we have no other choice but to live in it. There’s so little one person can do since most people live in their own personal bubble. But in a world contaminated by “modern inventions”, the least anyone can do is take a break from life and breathe a little bit. Find a place to be in contact with nature, the less distractions, the better (anything that requires electricity like cellphones, computers, mp3 players…); take a walk by the beach, sit under a tree, breathe and feel nature, let it speak to you, become one with life.
We are animals. We are part of nature. Our true identity is a fruit of passion. The world does not belong to us. We belong to the world. We are life. Embrace your true nature. Free yourself from the burden of humanity. Be the animal. Be free. No matter how short that time may be. Breathe life.
