Gobble gobble!
It’s that time of year, looking for an excuse to celebrate a holiday between Halloween and Christmas. Today I was at the supermarket with my sister buying everything we need to make our Thanksgiving lunch. We’ll be cooking the turkey following Nigella Lawson’s Super Juicy Roast Turkey recipe, the stuffing and arroz con gandules (rice with pigeon peas) from Cocina Criolla by Carmen Aboy Valdejuli, a cranberry sauce and gravy from Food Network, and potato salad.
I was looking over the ingredients and preparation this morning and they’ll be modified to our liking. We’re not cooking for a dozen people and some of the ingredients we can do well without or be substituted. We bought pumpkin pie and pumpkin flan for dessert. YUMMY! I thought about making pumpkin pie from scratch but maybe some other time.
I’m not really looking forward to the many things that need to be prepared and cooked but I do enjoy cooking. It’s gonna be a busy kitchen on Thursday and very very hot. The oven alone is going to add 10 degrees Fahrenheit to the already warm weather here.
