Say no to Internet Explorer
In a survey conducted by Google, not a lot of people know the difference between a search engine such as Google, Yahoo, or Bing and an internet browser like Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Apple Safari. Do YOU know the difference? See this video made by Google, it explain what exactly IS a browser. I don’t consider myself a tech expert but I’m pretty internet savvy and this my personal opinion as a designer:
The majority of personal computers in the world run some version of Windows and they all come loaded with Internet Explorer. My personal problem with Internet Explorer is shared by anyone that creates and/or manages websites. The truth is, Microsoft is well known for creating software full of errors. That’s why they’re always releasing patches and forcing you to update every week, even making you restart your computer when you don’t want it to. So it’s no coincidence that Internet Explorer is a program that is far from perfect.
All websites use different coding to display content, every web designer’s nightmare is that Internet Explorer doesn’t display valid code properly. So designers have to work harder to make websites look nice in the most common browsers. Basically my problem with Internet Explorer is that it displays websites however it wants instead of just rendering the pages like it’s supposed to. Meaning, IE is a crappy browser made by lazy programmers, making it a second class program.
I understand the people that use IE because they have no other choice if they’re at work or school and can’t install a new browser on the computer, but I simply refuse to use sucky programs when there are better options out there, so many that you need more than your fingers and toes to count them. The most well known are Firefox, Safari, Opera, and Chrome.
This is why I’d rather you see my website and every other website with a browser other than Internet Explorer so that you can see the potential of awesome coding. Internet Explorer is holding the internet back with their crappy page rendering. The day Microsoft starts implementing valid code rendering of websites, I’ll be a little less disappointed in such a rich company doing half assed jobs.
