Jolicloud OS

I’ve been following the Jolicloud development for quite a while. I promised myself that I would install it on my next computer. For my birthday, my parents got me a netbook. It’s an MSI Wind U230 L and I love it. It has an 11.6 inch matte screen, 1366×768 resolution, 2 GB RAM, 250GB hard drive, an AMD Neo processor which is a lot faster than I expected it to be, it has HDMI output, and it comes with Windows 7 64 bit Home Edition. I have to say I’m really happy. The netbook looks absolutely beautiful. It’s black but it has a dark grey pattern that kinda looks like carbon fiber. I’m just in love. My mother sure knows me well, she picked out something I would choose myself.

Installing Jolicloud was a breeze. I downloaded the .exe from their website, doucle clicked it and off it went. When I restarted I booted Jolicloud and it continued the installation. I adore it. The only thing that really bothered me is that it doesn’t have an FTP app but other than that, It’s a really pretty and fuctional OS. Since the OS is dependent on an internet connection, I’m keeping the pre-installed Windows 7, I already tricked it out with an awesome background by my favourite artist karincoma, installed Google Chrome, antivirus and spyware software, and renamed the computer and hard drive. This machine is officially mine alright.

I set my home page to be http://my.jolicloud.com so I have instant access to my Jolicloud Dashboard when I’m using Windows 7. I’m really excited about the upcoming updates. I hope they release it soon to see what improvements have been made. Long Live Open Source Software!
