To dye or not to dye

My hair is mostly back to its natural hair color (dark brown). The violet-black faded although it never really absorbed much of the color, which was very disappointing. It wasn’t cheap hair dye either. My hair has always been a dilemma for me. I can never get it the way I want it to be. I need to cut off the split ends first and then think about adding some color. I’m giving my hair a short vacation from chemicals and dyes. But eventually I wanna go back to black and red or maybe some purple. It depends on which one is more expensive to maintain. I’m heavily considering professional help this time. I hate going to salons ’cause I think they’re extremely overpriced. It’s a good thing I know a hairdresser that does house calls.
